On Friday, Bulmarket, a Bulgarian transport company, signed a contract with Softronic Craiova to acquire two new TransMontana locomotives.

These are the first locomotives produced by SOFTRONIC for the Bulgarian market and will operate in Romania under Bulmarket’s subsidiary, United Railways.

The two locomotives will bear the names Ruse and Gurghevo, symbolizing the longstanding and fruitful friendship between the two border cities of Bulgaria and Romania.

United Railways, which will operate the two locomotives in Romania, has a majority shareholding of 65% from Bulgaria and 35% from Romania.

Bulmarket was founded in 1996 and received its freight railway transport license in Bulgaria in 2005, becoming the first private freight transport company in the country.

Currently, the company owns a fleet of approximately 30 locomotives and 700 wagons, either in its inventory or leased.
