On the weekend of September 20–21, 2025, we took part in European Mobility Week, hosted at Bucharest North Railway Station—an extensive event that brought together more than 200,000 visitors and gathered manufacturers, projects, and initiatives dedicated to sustainable mobility from across the country.
Alongside other PNRR-funded projects carried out in factories across Romania, we presented to the public locomotive 481-005 “Regina Maria”, part of the program to modernize 19 locomotives for CFR Călători, financed through PNRR. This presence highlighted our role in transforming railway transport and aligning Romania’s mobility sector with European standards.
Locomotive 481-005 – modernization
The locomotive 481-005 “Regina Maria” entered service with CFR Călători in 2025 and is a concrete example of the transformation we are bringing to romanian rail transport.
Visitors had the opportunity to step inside the driver’s cab, explore the upgraded features and equipment, and learn directly from our colleagues about the modernization process. At the same time, we explained how this PNRR-funded project contributes to a more efficient, comfortable, and sustainable railway transport system.
Our commitment
Our participation in European Mobility Week 2025 was an opportunity to demonstrate that Romania can deliver locomotives at a European level.
The 19 locomotives included in the project are at different stages: some are already in service, others are undergoing work or testing, and will soon be delivered. Through these modernizations, we are offering passengers more reliable trains, with improved energy efficiency and greater comfort—thus strengthening the development of a modern and sustainable railway transport system in Romania.
