On Monday, May 19th, 2025, Softronic welcomed an official delegation from the Embassy of Japan in Romania. His Excellency Mr. KATAE Takashi, Ambassador of Japan, visited our factory in Craiova, accompanied by Mr. MIMATA Hiromu, Third Secretary. This visit represents an important moment for our company and a recognition of the progress and contribution Softronic brings to the railway industry.
A dialogue on innovation and sustainable mobility
The meeting provided an excellent setting for exchanging ideas and perspectives on modern mobility. The Embassy’s representatives showed keen interest in how Softronic integrates technology into developing efficient, sustainable solutions tailored to 21st-century transport needs.
We had the opportunity to present our ongoing projects — including the production of electric locomotives, solutions developed entirely in Romania, which are already operating within the Romanian railway network and in several other European countries.
The visit included a tour of our production facility in Craiova, where guests observed firsthand the technological processes behind the design and manufacturing of railway equipment. Discussions focused on the growing role of sustainability in transportation, the digitalization of processes, and the importance of international cooperation in accelerating the transition to a greener future.
Softronic – over three decades of romanian innovation
Founded in 1999, Softronic continues the railway industrial tradition in Craiova. Over the years, Softronic has established itself as a relevant player in Europe through fully in-house developed products — from design and testing to production and maintenance. Today, Softronic locomotives operate across multiple European countries, while our Hyperion electric trains provide modern standards of comfort and efficiency on domestic routes.
International opening and diplomatic recognition
The visit of the Japanese Embassy highlights Softronic’s openness to international dialogue and the growing interest of other nations in the technological solutions developed in Romania. We are honored by the interest shown in our activity and see such meetings as catalysts for future collaborations in research, production, and knowledge exchange.
We extend our sincere thanks to His Excellency, Ambassador KATAE Takashi, and Mr. MIMATA Hiromu for their time, openness, and appreciation. We move forward with confidence in our mission: to innovate, to grow, and to deliver modern railway solutions for a world in motion.
