The Class 43/44 locomotives have evolved over time in Romania, reaching Class 46.2, developed by SOFTRONIC CRAIOVA with TSAM 2-type equipment modernization. This is the most modern, reliable, and efficient upgrade carried out by a rolling stock manufacturer for this series of locomotives in Romania.
Although SOFTRONIC has not modernized locomotives since 2011, focusing entirely on the production of asynchronous rolling stock, locomotives, and EMUs, the factory still occasionally produces TSAM equipment and performs RR-type overhauls—periodic vehicle repairs. These processes include lifting the locomotives off axles/bogies for those modernized before 2011.
