On Friday, January 31, at the Ferencváros depot in Budapest, Sebastian Ghiță, Commercial Director of Softronic, officially handed over the first of two Transmontana locomotives ordered by CER Cargo Holding during the InnoTrans 2024 trade fair in Berlin. The event brought together representatives from the operator, manufacturer, and financing bank Deutsche Leasing.
A Strong Partnership Between Softronic and CER Cargo Holding
This delivery highlights the long-standing relationship between Softronic and CER Cargo Holding, a partnership that began a decade ago with the integration of the first locomotive into the Hungarian operator’s fleet. Since then, CER Cargo has expanded its fleet with four similar locomotives, numbered 610 100-102 and 104. The new units, 610 105 and 106, will further enhance the performance and efficiency of freight railway transport.
Technical Features and Innovations
The new locomotive is equipped with state-of-the-art technology. It features the ETCS Hitachi train control system, along with STM Mirel and PZB, essential for international rail operations. Thanks to these modern systems, the locomotive meets strict European safety and interoperability standards, enabling seamless operation across Romania, Hungary, and Slovakia.

CER Cargo Holding is set to receive the second locomotive soon, marking another significant step in its expansion.
