We are pleased to announce the recent delivery of two newly modernized locomotives as part of the contract financed through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). These units complete the series of upgraded locomotives and mark an important milestone in the development of romanian railway transport, highlighting both technological progress and our commitment to Romania’s cultural values.
Modernizing locomotives means more than simply bringing technology up to current standards – it ensures safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly transport. Through this contract, Softronic reaffirms its dedication to railway excellence, guaranteeing that every delivered unit meets the most rigorous technical and safety requirements.
A technological leap for Romanian rolling stock
Each modernized locomotive is the result of a complex process that includes the complete overhaul of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems, real-world testing, and the implementation of next-generation solutions to optimize performance. During modernization, we integrated technologies that enable continuous monitoring of operating parameters, reduced energy consumption, and improved safety for both operators and passengers.
The two locomotives delivered – along with the previous eight – strengthen the modernized fleet of the national operator CFR Călători, enabling faster, more reliable, and more sustainable rail transport. This achievement is the result of close collaboration between design, engineering, and production teams, who worked with precision and attention to every detail.
