The TRANSMONTANA locomotives, TM 067 (Mb 4017) and TM 068 (Mb 4018), have successfully completed endurance tests over a total distance of 890 km, covering the Cernele – Craiova – Bucharest Băneasa – Constanța route and back. During these tests, all installed equipment was checked and evaluated.
From traction and regenerative braking to simulated loads of up to 4,000 tons on inclines, climate control systems, onboard equipment, redundancy and safety systems in the engine room—everything was tested at maximum operating parameters to ensure compliance with locomotive specifications for operations near the Arctic Circle.
At the beginning of November, Mb 4017 and Mb 4018 will be delivered to Sweden, where they will provide freight hauling services for steel coil trains between Luleå and Borlänge. This 860 km mountainous railway requires locomotives capable of hauling up to 4,000 tons at a maximum speed of 100 km/h.
