TransMontana 075 is the latest locomotive produced and now active in circulation, assigned to the private freight railway operator VTR (Vest Trans Rails).
The locomotives are TSI (Technical Specifications for Interoperability) certified at the European level, allowing them to haul freight trains at a maximum speed of 120 km/h on conventional railways.
At present, Vest Trans Rail operates four TransMontana v3.1 locomotives, authorized under NNTR (National Technical Rules) certification in Bulgaria and Romania. These locomotives are:
=> 480-054 (VTR), 480-063 (ex-Bulmarket), 480-064 (ex-Bulmarket), and the newest 480-075 (VTR), all now part of VTR’s fleet.
Vest Trans Rail’s asynchronous locomotives can be seen almost daily on the Curtici – Constanța Port and Craiova – Socola routes.
The company is constantly expanding and plans to acquire a fifth TransMontana locomotive in the near future!
ETCS (European Train Control System) is the core signaling and control component of ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management System).
The TransMontana locomotive is an electric Co-Co type locomotive, equipped with six asynchronous electric motors, delivering a power output of 6000 kW (electronically limited in continuous operation). It can operate on both 25 kV 50 Hz AC networks and 15 kV 16⅔ Hz AC networks.
